As thousands of mourners gathered outside St. Peter’s Basilica for the funeral of Pope Francis, two presidents sat huddled inside amid the near-silence, beneath an 18th century painting of the baptism of Jesus.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said his brief meeting with U.S. counterpart Donald Trump on the sidelines of Pope Francis’ funeral at the Vatican a week ago was the best that the two men have had together.

Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Donald Trump has started looking at things “a little differently” following their one-to-one Vatican meeting.
