But what do you put on it? Man, BMW just started throwing up on themselves here. There's too much clutter and too many steps between finding the feature, adjusting the feature then, backing out of the feature to see idrive 8 as superior here. There's just, more. That said, where idrive8 is too busy, idrive 7 is a bit bleak on the features and apps.

Jul 15, 2023 · My dad's car had this same problem few months back. Tried all these other tricks but nothing helped. My dad drove the car to independent BMW specialist shop, they updated the idrive firmware and idrive started working again, no problems since then. BMW dealer would only change the whole idrive unit which is very expensive.

I'm driving a BMW 116i F20 with the standard iDrive system(see the added picture) which only allows me to make bluetooth calls and nothing else. May 6, 2022 · In my experience, which I officially verified, without an active ConnectDrive subscription, it would not “whitelist” any of the available widgets within the native iDrive menu, including Spotify. However, if your vehicle has CarPlay, you can still utilize the Spotify app control within that specific interface.

Got an OTA update on my 2024 X5 with iDrive 8.5 and noticed a rather annoying feature that displays big stop sign and stop light icons right in the middle of the HUD and the instrument cluster. There’s a related section in the driving settings app, so I can turn it off easily enough, but I’m curious about what exactly it’s warning about ...

Mar 15, 2024 · The bmw ix with idrive 8.5 now has the entertainment package in the connected drive store that allows video streaming with a monthly fee. They're known to screw over customers with software and here they are. ix and i4 has the exact same head unit (minus some camera decoders in the i4) but i4 will never get the ix features.

Jul 13, 2023 · Maybe one of these days BMW will acknowledge it’s an issue and come up with an actual fix. Dealership did a full reprogram and still happens occasionally. USB-C port thing was the only real improvement.

I've gotten used to idrive 8 and I'm glad I have it over idrive 7 and the old dash setup despite the "looks". You may prefer analog dashes and I understand, but I've grown up with sportbikes and a S2000 that have had digital dashes for decades. Honestly while driving I only see information. I don't see "screen".
