Hoiho/yellow-eyed penguin chick season is in full swing! Our vet team are caring for a bunch of chicks as well as incubating eggs. This intensive intervention is necessary to help prevent chick mortality associated with diseases, in particular respiratory distress syndrome which has close to a 100% mortality rate in affected chicks.
