The magical town of Beaune, in the Côte d'Or département (region) of France, has ancient and medieval roots. It dates back to at least the 3rd or 4th centuries AD, and is forever linked to a certain magical fruit, some fancy dukes, a hospital that looks more like a palace, and a medieval order. That magical fruit is of course grapes. Wine grapes. In fact, Beaune is known as the wine capital of Burgundy. It all started more than 2,000 years ago when the Romans started cultivating vineyards here.
