45 years ago, the Eagles released “Take It Easy” their very first single. Co-written by Glenn Frey and produced by Glyn Johns, features Glenn Frey on lead vocals, with both Randy Meisner and Don Henley providing harmonies for the second verse. Bernie Leadon offers up harmony vocals as well, but his most notable contributions to the song are with his lead guitar and double-time banjo playing. It all added up to a hit for the band, with the song climbing all the way to #12 on the Billboard Hot 100

Inductee Jackson Browne was stumped finishing the lyrics to "Take It Easy." Luckily, in the apartment above his lived fellow Inductee Glenn Frey. Frey loved the sound and as Jackson started playing the unfinished verse for him, Glenn added: “It’s a girl, my lord, in a flatbed Ford, slowin’ down to take a look at me.” The song became the Eagles' debut single and a longtime fan favorite.
