The world experienced a big loss this week with the passing of Eva Schloss. Known widely as the stepsister to Anne Frank, Eva was a Holocaust survivor, educator, and advocate for overcoming hate and dispelling prejudice. We remember Eva Schloss (May 11, 1929 – Jan. 3, 2026)— Holocaust survivor, educator, co-founder of the The Anne Frank Trust UK,and stepsister of Anne Frank — who dedicated her life to remembrance, truth, and empathy. Her legacy reminds us why stories matter, and why how we tell them matters too. Eva Schloss was a child when Austria was annexed by Nazi Germany. In our clip from The U.S. and the Holocaust, she recounts the moment ordinary life gave way to exclusion and brutality. An Auschwitz survivor and lifelong educator, she dedicated her life to remembrance and Holocaust education.
